Novelty contact lenses

Novelty contact lenses, including gothic and other special-effect contact lenses are soft lenses, very similar to coloured contact lenses. The main use for these type of lenses, are special events, such as Halloween, as well as theatrical and film uses(think Twilight, and almost every other vampire/zombie movie). Many of the special effects you see in films are the result of these specially designed contact lenses.

Special effect and novelty contact lenses can be used by anyone. It does not matter if you wear glasses or not, as special effect contacts usually have no corrective properties, so you can use them with your normal eyeglasses. These lenses generally cover the iris, so it does not matter what colour your eyes are, they will look the same on everyone.

As mentioned above, Halloween is a popular time of year in which alot of these types of lenses are used. They can be the one part of your costume that makes it awesome. For example, cats eye contact lenses work fantastic if you go dressed as Cat Woman!

Other gothic lenses have been made popular by celebrities such as Marilyn Manson. He was well known for mixing and matching different contact lenses to look completely crazy! These lenses mask your natural eye colour so they work on everyone. Some can be used to mask your eyes, such as the blackout contact lenses.
